Schooling - literature based

This year of schooling has been very interesting for is. We have been reading some really good books and doing a lot of fun crafts. Cahill has started writing sentences instead of just words, she is reading small books and loving it and just learned to count to 100 all by herself. Cahill is continuing to struggle with a lot of different health issues so schooling has been a lot less productive then last year. We are confident going into the next year that her health will continue to get better and better. We are so excited to see the changes occur in her personality and health thus far.

grocery shopping to learn about coins
After reading the rag coat(a must read for everyone) she learned how to make a quilt with Mema

The first book she ever read

Butterfly Exhibit

Yesterday we drove down to Grand Rapids to see the butterfly exhibit. Cahill took a few of her favorite friends and we all piled into the car. Cahill was very excited about the butterflies but her friends were a little freaked out with them flying all around. All in all I think it was the car ride with UNO, go fish, Annie movie and  tic tac toe that was the best part for Cahill.

Ashlynn

Ashlynn has decided that she is fiercely independent and extremely curious. She is determined to wash herself, brush her own teeth and pick out her clothes. She is extremely proud of herself when she accomplishes things. Her favorite game is duck duck goose and doggie doggie where is your bone. She does not under any circumstances like to sit still even for 3 minutes. She bounces off the walls all day long always trying to wrestle and chase her sister.

Winter excitement

One of the highlights of our looooong winter was a loose tooth. Cahill spent a few days wiggling it and finally decided she would just yank it out. Our very first lost tooth! The red heart pillow was what my mom had given me to put all of the teeth in for the tooth fairy. Cahill was very excited to know that there was a story behind her heart pillow. This winter we also decided to chop some hair off and the girls received matching bob.

The Annual Teach Talents and Treats

Cahill was part of a dance class in her homeschooling co-op this fall semester. At the end of the semester she had a little talent show to perform in. I had no clue what personality we were going to get the night of the event, but she rocked it. She had so much fun and I was over the moon with her excitement. Her are some pictures of her big event.

Our Family Christmas

Nothing better then Christmas morning with my babies. Crazy hair, pj's, blueberry coffee and all of my most precious peeps.

Christmas at the Homestead

I have to admit my favorite Christmas decoration is a nativity scene. Growing up we would fight over who set the nativity up each year. I was so happy when a beautiful friend of mine gave me a nativity for a house warming present.Of course this is the first year we had a mantle to decorate also which made Christmas even more fun with stocks, candles and banners.

This year the girls and I did a advent curriculum called the Joshua tree.
It had ornaments for each of the days with stories going through the Bible.
It was a great way to get ourselves into the meaning of Christmas..

A little fun craft idea made from pallets! Made one for grandma also.
I would like to take all of the credit but a friend of mine did the hard work!
